Even now nigh on 40 years later the song is a treasured icon from the 60s. There were more radio friendly cuts on the debut album but it was a shortened ‘Light My Fire’ that propelled The Doors from obscurity into legend. When radio stations demanded a cut down version of ‘Light My Fire’ nobody thought it was possible to trim it down from 7 minutes to a more radio friendly 3 minutes.
